The 2017 Russian Swamp Football Championship took place near the village of Pogi in the Leningrad Region on Saturday.
Each team has five players and a goalkeeper, who play on a natural peat bog which is 60 metres in length and 35 metres wide. The match includes two halves, each 13 minutes long.
Swamp football is believed to have been invented in Finland with the first championship held in 1998. Finland annually hosts World Championships featuring participants from various countries including Russia, France and Germany. Russian competitions in swamp football have been held since 2000 in the Leningrad Region.
