Norway: Pianist Ludovico Einaudi performs elegy in Arctic Ocean

Acclaimed Italian composer and pianist Ludovico Einaudi performed his composition 'Elegy for the Arctic' atop a platform floating on the Arctic Ocean, as part of a Greenpeace campaign to protect the polar region.
Greenpeace ship Arctic Sunrise transported Einaudi to Svalbard, where he performed on a grand piano against the backdrop of the Wahlenbergbreen glacier. The video, published by Greenpeace on Monday, shows ice collapsing into the sea as Einaudi plays his solemn elegy.
The performance was held ahead of a OSPAR Commission meeting in Tenerife this week at which delegates are due to consider a proposal to protect 10 percent of the Arctic Ocean.
