Mitsubishi Electric Corporation presented its EMIRAI xDAS 3.1 concept car at Hanover’s CeBIT on Monday, featuring driving-assistance technology with the aim of enhancing the safety and comfort of the driving experience.
The Mitsubishi EMIRAI xDAS 3.1 is an update of its predecessor, the EMIRAI 2 xDAS, and introduces a range of next-generation innovative driver assistance technology such as augmented reality navigation, gesture and face recognition, among other things. The concept car also includes wearable devices providing information to specific passengers.
Furthermore, the Mitsubishi EMIRAI xDAS 3.1 collects information about the drivers' physical condition via camera sensors and a cardiograph developed by the National University Corporation Kyushu Institute of Technology. The information is compared to previous behavioural data stored in the car's computer and if driver fatigue is detected, the computer issues stop recommendations. Information on dangerous locations is also collected.
The world's largest computer trade fair, CeBIT 2017, takes place in Hanover from March 20 - 24. More than 200,000 people and 3,000 companies are expected to attend. CeBIT2017's opening ceremony saw the participation of German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
