US and Japanese forces conduced joint drills in Japan's Kumamoto prefecture on Thursday, where fire and move exercises were the order of the day.
The troops were seen deploying from Osprey aircraft before engaging in the field exercises, which took place near the town of Yamato.
The 'Forest Light' exercise, which lasts from January 18 to 31, will see troops from both nations taking part in infantry skills training.
