The Russian military delivered topographic equipment to the Syrian port of Tartus on Tuesday. The equipment is reportedly planned to be used for the restoration of cities destroyed during the Syrian conflict.
With the help of the system, experts will be able to design new plans for the settlements, some of which were last updated more than half a century ago.
According to the head of the military topographic department of the General Staff of the Russian Federation, Oleg Shlychkov, the mobile digital mapping system allows experts to “create a full range of geospatial information: from electronic topographic maps, city plans, 3D-models of the area as well as paper maps.”
