Drone footage gave a rare bird's-eye view of the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour on Friday, ahead of the Orthodox Easter celebrations in Moscow. Orthodox Easter, a festival and holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, is being celebrated this year on April 12. The main event in the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour will be attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev. The Easter worship will be led by the head of the Russian Orthodox Church Patriarch Kirill. The Cathedral of Christ the Saviour is the second church to stand on the site. The original church was built during the 19th century but was destroyed on December 5, 1931. Reconstruction began in 1994 and ended in 1999.
