Indian Prime Minister Narenda Modi received full military honours when he arrived for talks with the German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin, Tuesday. Shortly before Modi arrived, a German soldier fainted whilst Merkel was inspecting the troops. Merkel and Modi are expected to discuss economic links between their countries, with the Indian prime minister reportedly keen to boost international investment in India. Speaking to German press during the week, Modi promoted his 'Make in India' campaign; an effort to endorse India as an ideal location for European manufacturing. Modi is also expected to meet with German Economic Minister Sigmar Gabriel and Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier during his visit. Germany is India's largest European trading partner with €15.9 billion ($16.8 billion) of trade between both countries in 2014. Germany is the Indian prime minister's second stop of a three-nation tour that began in France and will see him head to Canada next.
