Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan took a hard line on his approach to the EU-Turkey refugee deal, announcing that Turkey will not change its anti-terror laws in return for visa-free travel as part of the agreement, speaking from Istanbul, Friday.
"Turkey is under attack from terrorism directly and indirectly from all corners of the country and by all the terror organisations and their sponsors" said Erdogan. He went on to criticise the EU for supporting "tent-erecting terrorists" protesting next to the EU parliament, in reference to Kurdish protesters in Brussels, adding "we are going on our way and you go yours."
His comments come following yesterday's news that Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu will be stepping down from his position at the end of the month, after rumours of a 'rift' between him and the president.
