France: Police suppress pro-Kurdish demo after clashes grip Paris

Clashes erupted between police and pro-Kurdish protesters near Place de la Republique, after law enforcement attempted to disperse a protest against the Turkey government’s treatment of Kurds and its campaign against the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
After several protesters were tear-gassed outside the Turkish embassy in Paris on Monday, they moved to Place de la Republique were spats of violence went out. Police chased several protesters in the area around Paris’ famous square, making forcible arrests.
Earlier in the day, police used teargas and batons disperse the activists from near the Turkish embassy compound. After the clashes at the embassy, 17 of the activists were reportedly arrested.
