Four police officers were reported as wounded after a militant, allegedly linked to the so-called Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL), detonated explosives as his flat was being raided by security forces in the southeastern city of Gaziantep, Sunday. Turkish security forces placed the apartment block on lockdown, using several armoured vehicles to secure the area. Ambulances could be seen leaving the site around the 10-storey building. The explosion reportedly occured after police entered the alleged militant's apartment on the fifth floor of the building, with the blast leaving debris hanging from the balcony. The incident follows a police assault on a reported IS militant cell in the same city on Saturday, in which four militants were allegedly killed. Heightened security measures have been put in place throughout Turkey following a spike in violence, largely related to growing Wahhabi militancy, Turkish nationalism and the Kurdish question, with clashes and arrests erupting nationwide. Extra security has been put in place, specifically in the southern Turkish city of Antalya, as world leaders arrive for the G20 Leaders summit. Despite raised concerns following violence across the country and Friday's Paris attacks, the summit will still go ahead as planned.
