Germany: Avoid mixing issues of terror with resposibility to refugees - Interior Minister

The German Minister of Internal Affairs Thomas de Maiziere urged people not to draw conclusions linking the terror attacks in Paris to the refugee crisis, from Berlin, Saturday. He stated "we have a shocking amount of attacks on asylum seekers," and stated his belief that the two issues cannot be conflated nor associated. De Maiziere also addressed the possible detention of potential Paris attackers at the Austrian border. Bavarian police had stopped a vehicle carrying firearms, explosives and hand grenades, during a random security check on November 5, which was confirmed on Saturday. The minister told reporters that the vehicles SatNav had an address in Paris stored and that links are being investigated. The comments follow the killing of at least 129 people were, with more than 352 left injured, 99 critically, after a series of coordinated attacks were carried out at six different locations across Paris on Friday evening. At least 87 people were killed after gunmen opened fire during a concert at the Bataclan theatre, taking dozens hostage before detonating suicide bombs. Police stormed the venue, freeing the hostages and killing one of the attackers. Dozens of other people were killed in attacks at the French national stadium and a string of popular bars and restaurants.
