Footage filmed on Thursday shows the pre-series production of a multi-purpose MiG-35 fighter in the small town of Lukhovitsy, Moscow Region.
The aircraft has been classified as a 4++ generation jet fighter by the Russian Aircraft Corporation MiG. The new combat aircraft's airborne radar equipment includes an integrated information-sighting system of the fifth generation. Carbon fibre makes the plane lighter and therefore faster and more manoeuvrable and allows it to be armed with more sophisticated weaponry. The MiG-35 is able to hit six targets simultaneously, while holding up to 10 targets at gunpoint.
"We are working right now on two test aircraft for the Russian Defence Ministry. They will be ready this autumn," First Deputy Head of production complex of MiG Corporation, Vladimir Zhuchkov, said. "The potential of newly constructed aircraft is very high. The previous modification MiG-29 is being used in 29 countries worldwide, including USA," he added.
