Ruptly's drone captured a spectacular re-enactment of the Battle of Borodino, near to the site of the original battle in Moscow region on Sunday. For over two hours, calvary and infantry clanked swords and fired cannons decked out in 19th century military uniforms, reconstructing the famed 1812 battle between Napoleon's army and Russian troops. Some 3,000 men and 300 horses took part in the re-enactment which drew in around 100,000 spectators. Napoleon attacked the Imperial Russian Army, led by General Mikhail Kutuzov, near Borodino on September 7, 203 years ago.The fighting involved around 250,000 troops and lasted for a lengthy 12 hours, leaving 45,000 Russian soldiers dead and killing some 30,000 French troops, making in the single deadliest day of the Napoleonic Wars.
