The Spanish Civil Guard secured the release of a two-year-old child who was held hostage by a man reportedly armed with a sharp metal object at a creche in Colmenar del Arroyo, Tuesday. Footage shows media and police outside the crime scene following the release of the child. A police spokesperson said the child, whose rescue was secured by a team of negotiators, was "in perfect condition." The gunman, aged around 40-50 years old, initially took several people hostage, but later released them, keeping only one child whom he held for around five hours. The man was detained after he released the two year old. Colmenar del Arroyo is a small town located some 60km (37 miles) west of the Spanish capital, with a population of about 1,600 people.
