Footage released on Tuesday, features Sukhoi Su-34 multifunctional fighter-bombers performing practical launches of the latest aircraft-controlled anti-ship missiles - Kh-35U - at the sea range of the Russian Pacific Fleet.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, the missile launches were carried out as part of the planned combat training tasks. Launches were carried out on a complex target environment simulating a group of ships.
The shooting was carried out singly and volley on various trajectories of the missile's flight. In total, eight launches were carried out. All the missiles successfully hit their targets.
“The Kh-35U anti-ship missile is designed to hit surface targets of different classes without entering the carrier in the zone of fire impact of the air defence systems. The maximum commit range is more than 250 km. The hit of one such rocket will be enough to destroy a modern warship Corvette class. Aviation units and military units have been equipped with the Kh-35U missiles since 2014,” an MoD press-release said.
