Iraq: Over 470 bodies of IS victims exhumed from mass graves in Tikrit

At least 470 bodies were exhumed from four mass graves in Tikrit, Thursday, the human remains believed to be Iraqi military cadets killed by Islamic State (IS, formally ISIS) militants in 2014. Military officials and teams in hazmat suits converged on the site, later taking the bodies to Baghdad's central morgue as the forensic investigation continues. The bodies are thought to belong to the victims of those killed at Camp Speicher in June 2014 after IS reportedly abducted several hundred recruits from the fortified Iraqi base, near Tikrit. A total of 1,700 people are believed to have been killed during the attack.
