Putting the glitz in guns, one Texas firearm supplier presented his unique approach to flashy weaponry on Tuesday, introducing a pair of gold and nickel plated AK47s.
Ukrainian-born Dmitry, owner of the gun shop 'Texas Shooters Supply' in Spring outside Houston, stated that for him, Kalashnikovs were "a kind of heritage", after having grown up using the guns in Ukraine. The next step was clear;
"The market always needs to have some toys, which people always desire. And if it is different from anybody else, people always want it."
According to Dmitri, the AK-47 with the nickel plate is better for everyday use, but has the same technical characteristics as the gold-plated model.
He explained that the golden gun was designed as a collector's piece, but "if a person gets desperate and really want to shoot it, it will perform exactly the same as the regular AK."
