Alvega, a parish of Abrantes, was the place with the highest temperature in Portugal on Sunday, reaching a high of 45.2 degrees.
"I put myself a lot of times under water, I try not to catch the sun and to take all my medicines on time," an old lady from the town said.
Historical high temperatures hit eight different locations throughout Portugal, with the average highest temperatures of around 42 degrees.
