Germany and the rest of the EU aim to reduce the negative impact of the UK's 'Brexit' referendum result to their economies, German Chancellor Angela Merkel told a news conference in Berlin on Tuesday.
Merkel said the EU would wait until the government of Prime-Minister-to-be Theresa May has decided on its approach to the UK's relationship with the EU.
"We have already said today, we need to wait now until the UK says what kind of relationship it would like. Then, then we will lead the negotiations in the best interests of the citizens of the 27 EU member countries," Merkel said during a joint press conference with Irish Taoiseach Enda Kenny.
