Abul Bajandar, the 26-year-old nicknamed 'Treeman', will finally get help to remove the huge bark-like warts on his hands and feet, Dhaka Medical College hospital announced from the southern Bangladeshi district of Khulna, Tuesday.
Abul Bajandar's growths weigh at least five kg (11 lbs) and have completely covered his hands and feet. The growths began to appear ten years ago, but the warts started to become worse in the past six years, preventing him from being able to work.
The doctors diagnosed him with 'epidermodysplasia verruciformis,' which is a rare genetic defect that allows human papillomavirus (HPV) to attack the skin, resulting in eruptions of wart-like lesions, especially on hands and feet.
