Germany: Opponents to 'March of Life' clash with police in Berlin

Thousands demonstrated against abortion and euthanasia during the 'March of Life' in Berlin, Saturday, with counter-protesters clashing with police. The counter-demonstrators held sit-ins to prevent the march through the German capital's city centre, which was organised by different Christian groups. Police tried to forcibly disperse the sit-ins. Several protesters were detained during the subsequent scuffles. The March of Life has a long tradition. Every year protesters from all across Germany gather to speak at the protest, which is supported by politicians of the CDU/CSU and many in the Catholic Church.
