A Singapore Airlines plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Istanbul while on its way to Singapore, Monday, after hitting a flock of storks. One stork could still be seen stuck in the front of the plane. The Singapore-bound Boeing 777-200 left Istanbul Ataturk Airport with 255 passengers and 14 crew members aboard. An hour and ten minutes after taking off the flock of birds hit the plane, causing damage to a weatherproof protective shield covering the plane’s radar antenna. The passengers were later put in a hotel while Singapore Airlines arranged for a replacement plane.
