Thousands of people rode their bicycles through the streets of Budapest, Friday, to promote the environmentally friendly form of transport and to call on the city council to improve cycling conditions in the capital. Around 10,000 people gathered at Bakats Square at 18:00 local time (16:00 GMT) and then cycled to Margaret Island in the middle of the Danube river. The event was organised by the Hungarian Cyclists' Club with the help of the Critical Mass bicycle movement and was sponsored by the Dutch embassy.
