Fans of Serbia's national brandy Rakija travelled from all over the Balkans to compete in an annual drinking competition in Pranjani, Friday. Now in its 12th year, participants were tasked with fast drinking, after which they competed in two categories: walking on a timber and extracting Rakija from a barrel with the help of a pumpkin. The winners won a barrel of home made Rakija and a certificate. Rakija is a brandy made of plumbs, pears, apples, grapes and other fruits that grow in the Balkan region. It is considered to be Serbia's national drink.
